About

Gina is a 2D artist, creating line-driven images through drawing and painting, largely on paper, often layering and collaging as part of the process. As a child growing up in Tulsa, OK she began making art through play, creating elaborate dollhouse settings from found objects, making tiny worlds out of clay, and experimenting with drawing, cutting, and layering paper. She continued to use art to process significant mental health issues throughout high school, using her sketchbook as an extension of her internal world. She began to take her somewhat private practice into community as she went on to gain a Bachelor’s of Fine Art at the University of Oklahoma winning multiple student awards for her work. After graduation she began work in Austin, TX. In 2020 she moved home to Tulsa seeking a slower paced art scene. Throughout her adult life her struggles with mental health were obstacles to art-making, but at the same time her work proved to be a way of fighting for her own mental well-being. She now works out of her home studio, her primary aim is to make art that helps heal herself, and to share it in hope that it might heal others too.
